2011 _ School of Cookery

Central Market of Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

The School of Cookery is an initiative by Nestle in the Central Market of Belo Horizonte. The work presented here represents 25% of the envisaged project, in which the bamboo dome covers the entire intermediate slab (mezzanine) and can accommodate other uses. The bamboo mesh forms a semi-transparent surface that delimits a boundary between the space of the school of cookery and the parking area. This arrangement thus preserves a certain visual permeability, such as the existing ceramic hollow element facades of the market. Amid the shops and market products, the intervention is simultaneously present and silent.
