2007 _ São Vicente Alleyway

Serra’s Agglomerate, Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Co-authored by Rafael Yanni; photos by Pedro Meyer.

This work, conceived as an urban intervention, was part of a broader project of Agglomerate’s urban  improvements in Belo Horizonte called Vila Viva, which was primarily characterized by the construction of basic infrastructure and enhanced access to the homes of all residents. In parallel, several offices were invited to act in small residual areas with potential for conversion into common use spaces. Our proposal for São Vicente Alleyway included the redesign of the pathway and the construction of three cylindrical workshops that house the association of seamstresses. The tops of these buildings, on the same level of the alleyway, generate three small squares for capoeira, skateboarding and hopscotch. The intervention stands out in the landscape due to its shape and color.
